Bachelors' Party
French electro duo Curry & Coco are readying their debut album due coming April. Meanwhile, they keep us thrilled with the recent release of their EP, Sex is Fashion.

One great Valentines quote many would be remembering by now may be that “this holiday was invented by greeting card companies to make people feel like crap” (Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind). Nevertheless, this also comes as an opportunity to embrace the bachelor status and indulge that self-destructive behavior you’ve been keeping at bay just for the sake of being an adult.  In other words, if you don’t have a valentine by now, party like there’s no tomorrow and chase the blues away. This is where bands with attitudes like Curry & Coco's come in handy.

They come across as a raging duo of French hard party boys (with a little bit of nerdish-hipster vibe), but are actually a pair of talented musicians showing off an electropop, disco and new wave mix. Paired with the talented producer David “Fautline” Kosten and some remixes from Emperor Machine, Fulgeance and We are Enfant Terrible, the band seems more than ready to surprise us next April with the release of their debut album: We are beauty.

They’ve been playing live shows almost non-stop for the last three years. And even if they had some time to give us a quick interview, we know that they can take their time when it comes to matters of love.

Please, begin by telling us about yourselves.

Thomas : Well, we are Curry & Coco, we've been on the road for 3 years now, and we're just about to release our debut album, We are beauty, and tour Europe.

How did Curry & Coco came to be?

Sylvain : You mean the name? It came from a film called Dune that we've been watching so many times, and at some point a guy shouts something that can be understood as "COURRIAINGCOCO", so that's it.

How's We are beauty going? What should we expect from it?

Thomas: Disco and New Wave... Lust and madness, actually.
Sylvain: You definitely should expect madness indeed.

How was it to work with David Kosten?

Thomas: A thrill. The guy is a total geek like us and we almost spent as much time watching very bad karate movies than recording the album.

More than 150 shows in 3 years. That's almost a show every week. Are you worn out or do you feel like you have the energy to keep on partying?

Thomas: Being on the road is not really the most exhausting thing...
Sylvain: I would say staying home and hanging out with friends is a lot more exhausting than touring. Travelling keeps you young and fresh, while staying home makes you fat and bald.

We've seen that most of your Myspace friends (at least the "important ones") are asian girls. Do you have some kind of fetish or is it that you are just that popular in Asia?

Sylvain: Definitely fetish.

Where do you drew your inspiration from?

Sylvain: We are mostly inspired by non-musical things, like beautiful vintage cars or Renaissance paintings. We definitely love beautiful things, and love to decide to find something beautiful even more. So I guess each time we write a song, we must secretly want it to become one of those things.

How will you be spending Valentine’s day?

Thomas: Lust and madness.

Besides the disc, what are your plans for the upcoming months?

Sylvain: Becoming really, really famous and rich, quit our indie band lifestyle and then start to produce only massive techno hits under the name of "Jean & Sebastien B."
